Poem for Rosie

Together we swayed
Under our roasting sun
Your skin turning mocha
Against my white cheeks
Reddening like plums.

I hoisted up your dainty weight
To a solar system of bright leaves
And there it was each
Overripe cherry you ate
While the scent of cheap churros
Danced below us in the breeze.

I am thinking of having this be the starting poem in a book of illustrated poems where each color of the rainbow has its own. This one would be about the color red.
